The Faro airport is the only international airport in Algarve. It offers connections with many European cities and some extra-European destinations.
In the airport you can find some bike assembly areas, useful for the ones who want to carry their bikes on the plane.
For the other ones, you can find on this site a list of bike rentals and shops 🙂
You can reach the Faro city centre and railway station by taxi or bus lines 14 and 16.
For its peripheral position in Europe, Portugal is not easy to reach by car. You can obviously rent one but… are you coming for cycling or not? Anyway, Algarve is crossed by the A-22 motorway, while A-2 connects Algarve to Lisboa.
For the ones who are planning longer routes, keep in mind that the Ecovia do litoral partly coincides with the EuroVelo 1 international cycle route: It comes down from Lisboa, crosses Algarve and then into Spain, going then up to France, UK and Norway. Connection to Spain is assured by the Villa Real de Santo Antonio – Ayamonte ferry.
